Replace worn seals rather than covering the gap

Signs of alignment trouble include uneven gaps around the sash, difficulty locking the handle, scraping against the frame, or a draught concentrated at one corner. Look beyond the opening sash

The best choice depends on the window size, the property's construction, the room's orientation and your budget. Triple glazing is not automatically necessary for every home, while a high-quality, well-installed double-glazed window can be an excellent upgrade from ageing units.

Installation quality is just as important as the product. Even an energy-efficient window will disappoint if it is incorrectly measured, poorly sealed or left out of alignment.
